Keep fireworks enjoyable for everyone.
Please always use extreme caution when handling fireworks.
We encourage all users of fireworks to follow all instructions printed on firework products. For the safety of both the audience and individuals engaging with the firework, we’ve also established this list of additional industry standard safety tips.
FIREWORK SAFETY TIPS
Never reignite a firework
Never reignite a firework, as a misfired firework may still be live and unstable; attempting to relight it can cause an unpredictable explosion, resulting in serious burns, shrapnel injuries, or other harm.
Never light fireworks after drinking alcohol
Never light fireworks after drinking alcohol, as alcohol impairs judgment, coordination, and reaction time. This impairment increases the likelihood of improper handling, poor decision-making, and delayed responses to unexpected behavior, significantly raising the risk of burns, explosions, fires, or serious injury to yourself and others nearby.
Never carry fireworks in your pocket
Never carry fireworks in your pocket, as friction, heat, or accidental impact can cause them to ignite unexpectedly. If a firework detonates while in a pocket, it can result in severe burns, blast injuries, or permanent damage due to the close proximity to the body.
Light fireworks one at a time
Light fireworks one at a time to maintain full control over each device. Attempting to ignite multiple fireworks simultaneously increases the risk of misfires, unpredictable explosions, and accidents, making it harder to react safely and increasing the chance of burns, fires, or injury to yourself and those nearby.
Buy from reliable firework sellers
Buy fireworks only from reliable, licensed sellers, as unregulated, counterfeit, or homemade fireworks may not meet safety standards. Using unsafe or poorly manufactured fireworks increases the risk of accidental explosions, misfires, fires, and serious injury to yourself and those nearby. Always check for proper labeling, expiration dates, and compliance with local laws and safety regulations, and avoid purchasing fireworks from street vendors or unauthorized sources, as these products may be unpredictable and highly dangerous.
Wear protective eyewear when lighting fireworks
Always wear protective eyewear when lighting fireworks to shield your eyes from sparks, debris, or unexpected explosions. Fireworks can produce sudden bursts of flames, shrapnel, or hot particles that may cause serious eye injuries, including burns, cuts, or permanent vision loss. Wearing proper eye protection significantly reduces the risk of these injuries and allows you to maintain better control and awareness while handling fireworks safely.
Keep fireworks away from children
Keep fireworks away from children at all times, as they may not understand the dangers or how to handle them safely. Even small or seemingly harmless fireworks can cause serious burns, eye injuries, or accidental fires if a child lights or mishandles them. Always supervise any use of fireworks closely, store them in a secure, out-of-reach location, and never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks under any circumstances.
